Following a court hearing yesterday, the judge in summary proceedings of the district court of Amsterdam ruled today that the subsidy-relations with the Dutch Council for Refugees (in Dutch: Vluchtelingenwerk) must be continued. This means that for the time being, Vluchtelingenwerk can continue its work for refugees.

Vluchtelingenwerk had gone to court because the Dutch Minister of Asylum and Migration Faber had recently announced that Vluchtelingenwerk would receive less than half of the subsidy that the organization needs to be able to do its work. According to the judge, this is not allowed.

Vluchtelingenwerk is represented in this case by lawyer Bondine Kloostra.
