On Friday 15 November 2024 the New York Times laid out its arguments in the appeal case for the release of text messages exchanged between the President of the European Commission and the CEO of Pfizer as negotiations for a deal on Covid-19 vaccines between the European Commission and Pfizer were underway. The hearing was held before the Grand Chamber of the EU General Court. At the heart of the case is whether the text messages qualify as documents under the EU transparency law.

The New York Times is represented by Bondine Kloostra and Flip Schüller of Prakken d'Oliveira Human Rights Lawyers.
