Today, at 9 A.M., the trial against journalist Ans Boersma will commence at the Rotterdam District Court. Boersma worked as a journalist in Turkey, from where she was deported in 2019 after the Dutch intelligence services made inquiries about her with their Turkish counterparts. This inquiry was linked to an investigation into a terrorist organisation. Due to this negligent approach by the Dutch authorities, Boersma was deported from Turkey and, among other things, lost her job. Boersma is currently negotiating with the Dutch State for appropriate compensation.
In the criminal case, Boersma is accused of forgery: she allegedly provided false information and documents in the application procedure for a (rejected) visa for her ex-partner in 2014. Boersma denies all accusations.
Part of the plea will be published on this website later.
One of Boersma's lawyers in this case is Marq Wijngaarden.
